Port Charlotte- Charlotte County Florida

Port Charlotte was first developed in the late 50's when the Mackle Brothers purchased the Frizzell Ranch. Today, Port Charlotte has grown to become Charlotte County's largest population base of approximately 74,000 people. The community is located to the north of Peace River and Charlotte Harbor and to the west of I-75. The attractions to Port Charlotte are quite diverse. Home values range from some of the most modest in the area starting around $135,000 to some of the most exclusive in the county with prices into the millions.

Commerce is an important part of Port Charlotte. The vast majority of the National chains have made their presence in Port Charlotte. Examples include Sears, Olive Garden, Sam's, Target, Dillard's, Staples, Lowe's and Super Wal-Mart to name just a few.
Port Charlotte is about a 20 minute drive to the Gulf beaches and also has its own (man made) Port Charlotte Beach complex.  For the golfer, there are a variety of golf courses from which to select.  Although there are some beautiful waterfront home sites, I would not describe Port Charlotte as a prime waterfront community due mainly to the small ratio of available waterfront properties.  As an avid boater on Charlotte Harbor for over 40 years, you should consult with me to discuss the type of boating you intend to do before settling on Port Charlotte as your new port.  Another consideration is selecting a neighborhood is making the decision if you want a neighborhood with or without deed restrictions.  Except for a few developments, the vast majority of the home sites are not regulated by deed restrictions.  The better part of Port Charlotte has public water, but home sites homesites require a septic system.
Two of the areas three hospitals are centrally located in Port Charlotte.  To learn more about the medical community, please visit www.peaceriverregional.com  and www.fawcetthosipital.com.  You should also visit the hospital in Punta Gorda at www.charlotteregional.com .
